Register for this event at www.cisecurity.org/webinar/2019-national-cybersecurity-awareness-month/. Speakers include representatives from MS-ISAC, Department of Homeland Security and the National Cybersecurity alliance. Topics cover general awareness and resources; no technical expertise is needed to understand the content presented.

MS-ISAC is an important resource for governments. It originated as a collaborative effort led by New York state in 2003, sharing information and pooling resources to strengthen cybersecurity efforts and guard against threats. MS-ISAC has grown to include local and tribal governments and has reached more than 1,000 members. The Department of Homeland Security has designated MS-ISAC as the key resource for the nation’s state, local, territorial and tribal governments for cyber threat prevention, protection, response and recovery.

Washington and most of its counties are current members of MS-ISAC. Some Washington cities, transit districts, ports, schools, public utility districts and emergency response providers also participate.

Members can take advantage of MS-ISAC’s cybersecurity advisories and alerts, vulnerability assessments and incident response for entities experiencing a cyber threat, secure information sharing through the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) portal, and more. Membership is open to all governments in the United States involved in cybersecurity and/or critical infrastructure protection. There is no cost to become a member; it is primarily supported by Department of Homeland Security as a resource for governments. Read more about MS-ISAC here: www.cisecurity.org/ms-isac/.
