2017 BARS Roundtables

We value your opinions.  We are offering free, three-hour roundtable discussions on our Budgeting, Accounting and Reporting systems (BARS).  These Roundtable Discussions are being offered statewide from October 10, 2017 to November 29, 2017.

This year, we will preview significant changes to the BARS in 2018.  We want your feedback before the update is released in December.  Also on the agenda: upcoming GASB statements, online filing enhancements and new resources.  Sessions will likely include facilitated, small-group discussions on accounting and reporting requirements for GAAP, cash, entity type and more.  Some locations are able to offer an optional additional hour for those interested in testing the new Local Government Finance Reporting System (LGFRS) after the scheduled Roundtable.  Please refer to the schedule for the applicable locations.

You can view the BARS Roundtable Schedule here to find a location nearest you.  To register, please contact Brittany Wallace at Brittany.wallace@sao.wa.gov or at 360-725-5339.

Online Filing Workshops are also offered each year across the state (running late February - end of April).  These workshops are designed to help local governments file their annual financial reports, and to meet the statutory requirement of submitting the report within 150 days of the close of their fiscal year.  Online Filing Workshops for 2018 will be scheduled and posted late December or early January.
